The library is built on May 11, 1995 on the graduate library platform, following a modern library model developed as part of a project funded by the Department of Graduate Studies, the Ministry of Education and Training, and Ho Chi Minh City University. On the afternoon of 10 May, the VNUHCM-University of Science solemnly held a ceremony to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Library’s establishment, under the theme: “30-Year Journey – Igniting Creativity, Lighting the Future.” This meaningful occasion reflected on the Library’s formation and development, recognising its enduring contributions to the University’s mission in education and scientific research over the past three decades. With a spirit of service, innovation, and integration, the Library of VNUHCM-University of Science will continue to be a reliable companion for learners in their pursuit of knowledge and sustainable development in the digital era.

Vision

 The value of a library is not in how many information resources it has, but in what services are crowded to the users through the use of new technologies and educated staff.

Objectives

The HCMUS Library has been built as a 21st century library using new technologies to assist patrons in accessing and retrieving information easily and to enable librarians to help patrons meet their information needs effiently and effectively. 

Functions

The library functions as an advisory body to the Board of Directors in developing long-term and short-term plans for its operations. It is responsible for organizing, managing, and coordinating the entire system of scientific and technical information and documentation to effectively support research, teaching, and learning for faculty members and students.

Missions

  • To serve the studying, teaching and researching needs of the students, faculty and researchers of HCMUS
  • To meet the information needs of all patrons.
